Bodhi Linux 6.0 comes with a polished and fresh coat of paint for its in-house build-in Moksha desktop environment, a continuation of the Enlightenment seventeen desktop environment series. There’s a fantastic new bootloader theme, as well as the new boot splash and login screens with butiful effects.

There’s no announcement at the moment of writing, so what I am telling you here is based on what experience i got so far. There are 2 main ISO images present for download, 1st is shipping with Linux kernel 5.4 LTS, and 2nd is powered by the Linux kernel 5.8 HWE kernel from Ubuntu 20.10 – Groovy Gorilla.

Software-wise, the distro is still kept very simple and minimalist UI, featuring only the Chromium web browser, Leafpad text editor, Xfce’s Thunar file manager, Synaptic package manager, and some of the other Enlightenment apps you may know and love, such as the Terminology terminal emulator and the Ephoto image viewer.

If you want to install more software, you can always try to download the AppPack ISO image, which comes with the HexChat IRC client, Pidgin IM client, FileZilla FTP client, Audacious audio player, VLC media player, Kazam screen recorder, theLibreOffice office suite, Geany IDE, GIMP image editor and CherryTree note taking app.

Without further do, if you want to try or install Bodhi Linux on your pc or personal computer, you can download the new release right now by using the direct the button given below .

System requirements- for bodhi linux includes: 5 GB hard disk space, 512 MB RAM and a 500 MHz processor. 32-bit processors without PAE capability are supported on exactly same terms as the PAE-enabled ones. Main difference between the Bodhi versions is that the older kernel is used.

By using an Enlightenment DR17-based fork called Moksha Desktop, Bodhi provides rich desktop effects and animationsas well that do not require high end computer hardware for using.

The rationale for forking the project from DR17 because of its smooth established performance & functionality while E19 possessed “optimizations that break existing features users enjoy and use” as per the Jeff Hoogland’s statement.

The Enlightenment window manager, as well as the tools developed particularly for Bodhi Linux, were written in C and Python programming language.

Support of Bodhi Linux 6.0

Bodhi Linux is obtain from the Ubuntu long term support releases version (14.04, 16.04, 18.04…), therefore support follows the same pattern: Security bug fixes are released on contineous basis throughout the five-year period.

As opposed to Ubuntu, Bodhi has no short-term support release os far. An installed Bodhi Linux can be upgraded to the latest state via command line or terminal or package manager.
